Algebra and Combinatorics

چکیده
The author has a wide variety of topics for projects in Algebra and Combinatorics. Three candidates are an investigation of the graph theoretical properties of the subgroup graph of a group, the study of simplicial monomial rings, and the search for Hurwitz groups. All three projects are appropriate for undergraduates, each has a high probability of success, and each offers a wide range of possible levels of completion. The projects involve the use of technology (primarily Mathematica and/or GAP), both to be used as a computational tool and to generate data to assist in the formulation of conjectures.

In this paper, we present a full Newton step feasible interior-pointmethod for circular cone optimization by using Euclidean Jordanalgebra. The search direction is based on the Nesterov-Todd scalingscheme, and only full-Newton step is used at each iteration.Furthermore, we derive the iteration bound that coincides with thecurrently best known iteration bound for small-update methods.
